It a former Walter Payton Award winner (best offensive player in FCS) against a former Heisman Trophy winner. Despite their age difference Mitchell is only 24, while Smith, who bounced around the NFL, is 29 it inexperience against inexperience. Smith played well in spurts last season after signing with the Als shortly after Anthony Calvillo went down, while Mitchell impressed in limited action in Calgary. The quarterback who can limit the big mistakes will put his team in the driver seat.

On a cold February day, a pair of transactions changed the kick return game for both of these teams. The Stamps first shipped Taylor, a 2013 CFL all star as a return man, to the Alouettes for little more than a draft pick upgrade, paving the way for the subsequent signing of Sanders. The Stamps are counting on the former Saskatchewan Roughriders sparkplug to provide more big plays in the return game than Taylor did last season, but there no doubt LT will be motivated for this one. Both young quarterbacks could use good field position.

3) CB Fred Bennett vs. Chad Johnson WR

Bennett is no stranger to Ochocinco, as the 6 foot 1, 192 lb. cornerback spent part of the 2010 season with the Cincinnati Bengals, working against No. 85 on the scout team. Back then, Bennett was trying to earn an NFL job, while Johnson was in his final season in Cincy. Now, Bennett is in his prime and coming off a solid 2013 season, while Johnson is a 36 year old with about a month of CFL experience. Everyone, including opposition defensive backs, is interested to see how much Johnson has left in the tank and Bennett will be one of the first to find out.

The Stamps held Green in check in Week 3 last season, holding him to three catches, but he went off the next week at McMahon Stadium in the home and home series for 116 yards and a touchdown. Smith usually draws a tough assignment and Week 1 will be no different for the veteran.

5) DE Charleston Hughes vs. Josh Bourke LT

First of all, stopping Hughes last season needed to be a team effort because of how former defensive co ordinator Rick Campbell moved the 6 foot 1, 260 lb. edge rusher all over the field. That didn happen much, though, as Charleston was in charge almost every week, racking up a league leading 18 sacks in the process. Stubler will give offences different looks with the premier pass rusher in the league, too, but for the most part, it fall on Bourke shoulders to protect Troy Smith blindside and keep Hughes off his quarterback.
